Role Purpose and Overview
The Leukaemia Foundation defines volunteers as people donating their time, free of charge, to the mission and objectives of the Foundation. Volunteers are engaged in work that, without their support, may not have been undertaken or completed. Volunteers are not used as alternatives to paid employment or to displace known budgeted positions. The contributions of all our volunteers are welcomed and their gift of time, skills and technical knowledge is highly valued. The purpose of this role is to encourage the crowd at our Light the Night event to engage with all aspects of the evening. This will include being on your feet for a couple of hours.
Direct reports/functions
Reports to: Community Supporters Coordinator
Accountabilities
Volunteers in this role may be required to complete some or all of the following requirements:

Direct volunteers from train station to event site

Answer questions from participants Assist with re-assembling lanterns around the event site

Litter sweeping to ensure site remains clean throughout the event Assist in areas where there is a volunteer shortfall

Assist face painters, cosplayers and take photos for the public in the kids areas

Encourage participants to take photos with the HOPE sign and add #LighttheNightAU to their social posts

Ask participants to sign the walk banner
Other Information
Attire
Please have a neat and tidy appearance Wear closed in, comfortable shoes (no heels) You will be given a high vis vest and a name badge If you are volunteering in the daytime, please wear a wide brim hat and sunscreen If you are volunteering in the evening, you may wish to bring along a light coat.
Meal details
Water and sandwiches will be available for all volunteers. Other food vendors will be available for purchase on the night.

We suggest you bring the minimum, as we cannot guarantee security.
